The Kennedy Girls finished third in the state tennis meet. The girls lost a very close match with Bettendorf in the semi-finals 5-4 but rebounded with a 5-0 win over West Des Moines Valley to take third place. The top six players were Megan Nielsen, Gretchen Wertz, Jackie Pedersen, Laura Boenish, Trisha Hinke and Christina Goeddel.

Rounding out the tournament squad were Lindsey Slater, Shabana Sidhu, Jessa Dierks and Haley Brightwell.

The Cougars finished the season with a record of 18-2 and were 34-3 the past two seasons. Our seniors (Megan and Gretchen) will leave having been four year varsity letter winners and members of teams that posted a  record of 71 wins and four losses over the past four seasons.

Megan Nielsen and Gretchen Wertz finished sixth in the state doubles competition. Jackie Pedersen and Trisha Hinke were state qualifiers in tennis doubles and Laura Boenish was a state qualifier in singles.

GIRLS TENNIS ON TO STATE!

The Kennedy Girls Tennis team qualified for the state meet by defeating Xavier in a hard fought meet on Wednesday. The final score was 5-3 in favor of the Cougars.
