Swimming (Women's)

This past weekend the Women’s Swimming and Diving Team completed another outstanding season at the 48th annual state meet. Carolyn Simmon competed Friday night in diving and finished 29th. Saturday’s swimming competition began with Sam Jacobsen, Brooke Timmerman, Michele Wasta and Kirsten Siebenga swimming the second fastest time in Cougar history in the 200 medley on their way to a 9th place finish. Brooke was next, finishing 13th in the 200 IM and was followed by Kirsten’s 19th place finish in the 50 free. Michele then finished 20th in the 100 fly and Hannah Botkin 22nd in the 100 free. The 200 free relay quartet of Hannah, Sam, Brooke and Kirsten then scored big points finishing in 10th place. Sam then swam in the next event finishing 13th in the 100 back. Brooke then finish 9th in the 100 breast and the 400 free relay consisting of Hannah, Sam, Maddie Bagby and Kirsten finished the day in a blazing 3:39.98, just 33 hundredths of a second off the team record. The Cougars ended the day in 14th place and for the 7th time in the last 10 years are the metro area’s top swimming and diving team. Congratulations ladies, well done.
