Practice reminders:
· Remember, the schedule can and will change due to course availability, weather conditions, and as reserve meets are scheduled. The reserve meets are an opportunity for you to play. It is golf season and you chose to be a part of the team. Be ready to play when your opportunity arrives.
· We have reserved the tee times Monday-Thursday @ Ellis from 3:10 - 3:50 pm. You may use them even on days when Coach Green, Coach Bush, and I all have meets to attend as long as you check in at the clubhouse and identify yourself as a Kennedy golfer. If you want to play and it is not your scheduled day, come to the golf course and I will try to get you on somewhere, somehow.
· Check in with your coach (Varsity/Cougars - Coach Wilden) (Green/JV - Coach Green) (Gold/9th Grade - Coach Bush) when you arrive at the golf course. We begin at 3:10 pm. The sooner you get to Ellis, the sooner you will get started and can get home to study. If you arrive late, you will be in the last group to tee off and could miss a tee time altogether if leagues are starting after us.
· If you have questions about the calendar or practice schedule, Varsity/Cougars should contact me, Coach Wilden (558-4241 or 350-8142 or mwilden@cr.k12.ia.us ) and Green/JV should contact Coach Green (294-5226 or mgreen@cr.k12.ia.us ) and Gold/9th Grade should contact Coach Bush (558-3222 or jbush@cr.k12.ia.us ).
· Dress properly. If you show up in jeans, a t-shirt, or tennis shoes, you will be sent home.
· Pick up your pace of play. Slow play is not good for your group or the groups behind you. Keep up with the group ahead of you. If you can't keep up, maybe you should practice on the range more or take a lesson from a PGA golf professional to improve your game.
· Behavior in practice areas and around the golf course is a concern. Clean it up. We want golf to be fun, but it can also be very dangerous. No horseplay is permitted.
· LEARN THE RULES OF GOLF!!!!!!!! GET A RULE BOOK!!!!!!! If you need one, see me!
· Repair fairway divots and ball marks on greens. If you are unsure of what to do, ask Coach Green, Coach Bush, or me.
· Etiquette.Etiquette.Etiquette.
· Stay back with your group so you don't get hit with an errant shot.
· Don't walk in the putting line of others when on the green.
· Farthest out has the turn.
· Don't distract others in your group or disrupt other groups by moving or making noise when it is their turn to play their shot.
· Whenever you play, in practice or in meets, keep track of:
1. How many fairways you hit on par 4's and par 5's.
2. How many greens you hit in regulation (GIR).
3. How many putts you attempt (only shots taken on the putting surface are putts).
4. Report these statistics to your coach when your round is completed.
